Peter Elkas Band + The Pintos + FemBots

Peter Elkas is an award-winning singer-songwriter and producer working out of Toronto, Canada. Originally from Montreal, he spent his formative years in the alt-rock band Local Rabbits. As a touring session multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, he has toured internationally backing the likes of Neko Case, Joel Plaskett, Andy Kim, and others. He has released multiple celebrated albums under his own name, produced by the likes of Don Kerr (Rheostatics, Ron Sexsmith) and Charlie Sexton (Bob Dylan). Peter Elkas has shared stages with many celebrated artists such Feist, The Doobie Brothers, Nick Lowe, and Bruce Springsteen. He has most recently collaborated with Toronto vocalist and session drummer Dani Nash (July Talk, Sarah Harmer) to co-write and co-produce her critically acclaimed self-titled debut LP Ordinary Love // Anything At All. Paxton's body of work now includes five albums, a handful of singles and EPs, and notable live appearances with the likes of Daniel Lanois, Blackie & The Rodeo Kings, Astrid Young, Evan Dando, and many more. Since forming The Pintos -- consisting of bassist Carrie Clark and drummer Robin Pirson, along with Altmann -- Paxton has proved he's ready to take things up a notch within the Americana world, with plenty of new music on the way courtesy of his own label, Down By The Point Records. Whether he's on stage or in the studio, Paxton wears his heart on his sleeve, delving into themes of love, loss, and self-reflection. Instagram | Facebook | Spotify | Apple Music • FemBots are a Toronto based band led by the songwriting team of Brian Poirier and David MacKinnon. Formed in 1997 as a home recording experiment the project took on a life of it’s own, eclipsing the duo’s “real” band and becoming their main focus. FemBots sound draws on folk, Americana, classic soul music and often includes found sounds and everyday items repurposed as musical instruments. Over the course of their first ten-year run FemBots transformed from a duo, playing instruments raided from thrift stores and dumpsters, into a full band with a line up drawing on a who’s who of the Toronto indie scene. They released four critically acclaimed records between 2000 and 2008. After a decade of recording and touring the band took what was supposed to be a short break. The break lasted almost ten years. In 2018 FemBots were asked to provide music for the CBC series Farm Crime. Their rekindled collaboration led to an outpouring of new music. The result of that spark is Transfigurations, the first FemBots release in 14 years. Joined by long time collaborators Nathan Lawr and Greg Smith the band digs deep into an acoustic set of songs about love, loss and mortality largely informed by the loss of MacKinnon’s wife to cancer in 2020. Transfigurations is a spare and bare bones record compared to its predecessors. Gone is the exotic instrumentation and orchestrations of their previous work.
